Arrest Made After Police Incident Near Cliftonville Road

Police and the Fire Service responded to reports concerning a man allegedly armed with a knife in the Cliftonville Road area on Tuesday afternoon. A man in his 40s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody while police enquiries are ongoing.

Residents in the Cliftonville Road area may have noticed an increased police and emergency presence late Tuesday afternoon (December 16th).

Police attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, shortly after 3:20 PM, following reports concerning a man allegedly armed with a knife in the area.

Following the incident, a man, aged in his 40s, was arrested. He is currently being held on suspicion of several serious offences.

These include suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, assault on police officers, and possession of a Class A controlled drug. The individual remains in police custody at this time while investigations continue.
