The North Belfast community has been shocked by a serious arson attack that occurred at a property in Lowwood Park on Sunday evening, December 28th. Thankfully, two adults who were present in the home at the time managed to escape without injury, despite the serious nature of the incident.
Police received the report of arson around 8:15 pm. Detectives investigating the case believe the perpetrators first threw a brick through a front window, smashing it. Following this, an accelerant was poured over the front door and deliberately set alight, causing scorch damage to the residence. The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene alongside police officers.
A police spokesperson confirmed that due to the calculated nature of the attack, it is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life.
Local detectives are now urgently appealing to residents and community members who may have witnessed anything suspicious, or who possess relevant footage, to help with their investigation. They are particularly interested in reviewing any CCTV, dashcam or other relevant footage captured in the Lowwood Park area on Sunday evening.
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1302 of 28/12/25. Reports can also be submitted online via the PSNI’s non-emergency reporting form. Alternatively, information can be provided completely anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
