Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an early morning arson attack that left three cars extensively damaged in the Cupar Way area of North Belfast.
Emergency services, including the Police Service of Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, responded to reports of three vehicles ablaze outside a local property at approximately 2.30am on Monday, 19th October.
Investigators believe an accelerant was deliberately poured onto one car before it was set alight. The resulting fire quickly spread to two other vehicles parked nearby. One car was completely destroyed, while the other two sustained substantial damage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
A man was observed at the scene pouring the accelerant onto the vehicle before running off on foot in the direction of the Shankill Road.
Officers are treating the incident as arson and are urging anyone who was in the area around 2.30am and noticed suspicious activity to get in touch. Drivers who were travelling nearby and may have captured dash-cam footage, or residents with CCTV or doorbell camera recordings, are asked to check their devices.
Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting reference number 84 19/10/26. Information can also be provided completely anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
