Exciting news for local travellers! Belfast International Airport, a key part of the VINCI Airports network, is set to revolutionise its food and beverage offerings with a brand-new ten-year partnership. This significant upgrade is part of the airport's wider £100 million investment programme, promising a greatly enhanced dining experience for everyone passing through.
Working with leading food travel experts SSP Group, the transformation has already begun. Passengers can now enjoy the new coffee bar, 'Soul and Grain,' which opened its doors this week. But there's much more on the horizon, including a sophisticated 300-cover premium bar and kitchen, designed to provide an elevated pre-flight experience.
Don't worry, some familiar favourites like Starbucks and Burger King will still be available, but they'll be joined by a new casual dining restaurant perfect for families and larger groups. Northern Ireland’s much-loved Lagan Bar will also receive a modern makeover, complete with increased seating capacity to welcome more visitors.
Dan Owens, Chief Executive of Belfast International Airport, highlighted the commitment to local identity: “Northern Ireland is famous the world over for its hospitality and fantastic produce, and we want to reflect that in the Airport through this next phase of investment. We are committed to ensuring that every passenger has a memorable experience when travelling, and an elevated food and beverage offering is central to that.”
Indeed, the new outlets are planned to celebrate Belfast and Northern Ireland's rich culture, history, and landmarks. Travellers can look forward to locally inspired dishes, utilising regional suppliers and ingredients, making the airport a true showcase of what our community has to offer.
Kari Daniels, CEO of SSP UK & Ireland, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting the aim to 'showcase the best Northern Ireland has to offer' and provide diverse choices for all passengers. These dining hubs will be a central feature of the airport's redeveloped terminal, turning existing spaces into modern, welcoming areas.
This latest phase of work builds upon recent improvements, which include a state-of-the-art security hall, an improved duty-free shopping experience, a new arrivals area, and an enhanced forecourt. All these efforts are designed to ensure Belfast International offers a world-class travel experience for locals and visitors alike.
