North Belfast residents and drivers across the city are being urged to prepare for traffic disruption this Saturday, November 7, as several parades take place throughout the day.
Police have advised road users to anticipate delays and allow extra travel time, especially if their journeys take them through key central and northern corridors. A policing operation will be active throughout the day to help manage traffic flow, and members of the public are asked to follow directions given by officers.
A significant parade affecting North and South Belfast will get underway at 10:25am from the Donegall Pass area. The procession will move along Shaftesbury Square, Great Victoria Street, Wellington Place, Donegall Square North, Donegall Place, and Royal Avenue, before making its way into North Belfast via Donegall Street, Clifton Street, Denmark Street, North Boundary Street, and the Shankill Road. It is scheduled to conclude near Tennent Street at around 1:30pm.
Additional parades will also take place in other parts of Belfast on Saturday morning. In South Belfast, an early parade will run from 9:30am to approximately 10:00am. In East Belfast, a procession will begin at 10:30am on My Lady’s Road, moving through Willowfield Street, Castlereagh Road, Beersbridge Road, Woodstock Road, and Cherryville Street, before wrapping up in the Pottinger Street area at around 11:30am.
With multiple events and Remembrance Day commemorations taking place across districts throughout the weekend, locals who are not planning to attend are strongly encouraged to seek alternative routes to minimise travel disruptions.
