Belfast truly sparkled on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, as City Hall hosted the much-anticipated annual Christmas Lights Switch On! The city centre was alive with festive cheer, as families and friends gathered to witness the illumination of Belfast's beautiful Christmas display, all with a lively 'Wicked' theme.
Lord Mayor Councillor Tracy Kelly joined Cool FM’s popular presenters Pete Snodden, Rebecca McKinney, and Paulo Ross on stage to lead the countdown. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, thanks to a fantastic line-up of local talent that kept the crowds entertained throughout the evening.
Performances included the energetic routines from Avenue Arts Academy and the Sandy Row Falcons cheerleaders, alongside the impressive BA Collective Dance Duo. Beautiful carols filled the air courtesy of the Donegall Road Primary School Choir and St Agnes Choral Society, while The O'Hara Sisters added their unique flair. A real highlight was a captivating performance by Belfast's very own Rachel Tucker, renowned for her role in 'Wicked'. The excitement continued with an appearance from our world-welterweight boxing champion, Lewis Crocker, who also joined the Cool FM team on stage, much to the delight of the audience.
It was a truly memorable evening that perfectly launched the festive season, bringing together the community to enjoy spectacular entertainment and embrace the magic of Christmas in Belfast.
