Exciting news for women across Belfast and the wider island who are dreaming of launching a tech business! TechFoundHer has officially opened applications for its new WeBuild programme, designed specifically to help women entrepreneurs transform their innovative ideas into successful, tech-driven ventures. This marks a significant step forward for TechFoundHer, which has been building momentum since its launch in 2024.
The WeBuild programme aims to equip women with the skills and support needed to accelerate their tech-enabled business solutions. It places a strong emphasis on innovation, developing AI capabilities, and building resilient, future-ready enterprises. Whether you're just starting with an early idea or ready to refine a concept into an investor-ready technology product, WeBuild offers practical, hands-on guidance. Participants will benefit from expert mentorship, a supportive network of peers, and crucial advice on designing, testing, and building their technology.
This valuable initiative is led by InterTradeIreland, in partnership with Invest Northern Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, and is proudly funded by the Government of Ireland through the Shared Island Enterprise Scheme. TechFoundHer itself is the dedicated delivery partner for the programme. Máirín Murray, CEO and Founder of TechFoundHer, highlighted the accessibility of tech today: “You do not have to be a coder to build a credible tech product anymore. With GenAI and no-code tools, women can design, test and launch faster than ever. WeBuild goes deeper, helping you build credibility with strong ideas and ventures that investors and customers take seriously.” She sees this as a 'break-through moment' for women tech founders.
Entrepreneur and broadcaster Áine Kerr, a workshop facilitator for WeBuild, believes the programme has the potential to reshape the tech landscape for women. “This has the potential to be a real game changer for women tech innovators by creating the space, networks and industry insight needed to turn powerful ideas into scalable impact,” she said. The programme runs over a four-month hybrid schedule, featuring a 12-week sprint and includes in-person labs right here in Belfast, as well as Dublin. A highlight is an intensive two-day Build Lab where founders will use cutting-edge GenAI and no-code tools to rapidly test and strengthen their products.
WeBuild's robust support network is further enhanced by its collaboration with KPMG Ireland, who bring a strong track record in advancing women in technology and innovation. Breda O’Callaghan, Managing Director at KPMG, commented, “WeBuild is a valuable opportunity for women tech founders to gain practical, AI-focused skills that accelerate real progress.” The programme is one of three new initiatives under the Shared Island Enterprise Scheme, working alongside 'WeGrow' (delivered by Women in Business NI and Network Ireland) and 'WeScale' (by AwakenHub), to support women entrepreneurs at every stage. Experienced tech entrepreneur Áine Denn will also be part of the WeBuild faculty, providing practical product and strategy expertise.
This initiative truly empowers women to write a new chapter in technology, turning insight into impact. If you're a woman in North Belfast or across the island with a tech idea ready to grow, this could be your moment to build your future.
