Belfast Zoo is making it easier than ever for North Belfast residents and visitors to explore its grounds with the launch of the brand-new Zoo Express. Starting this Friday, March 27, the fully accessible hop-on, hop-off train will provide a comfortable way to navigate the zoo’s steep terrain, following a significant £75,000 investment.
The new service is designed to be inclusive for everyone, including families with young children in prams, older visitors, and those with disabilities. Passengers can board the train near the Visitor Centre and travel directly to key locations like the Penguin Habitat and the Treetop Tea Room. Whether you are looking to save your legs on the climb or simply want to enjoy the scenic ride, the Zoo Express offers a flexible way to see the sights.
Local representatives have welcomed the addition, noting that the steep nature of the zoo has historically been a challenge for some visitors. This investment ensures that the vital conservation work and the wide range of endangered species at the zoo are accessible to all members of our community.
Tickets for the Zoo Express are priced at £3.50 for adults and £2 for children. They are available to purchase at the admissions desk on arrival on a first-come, first-served basis. With the spring weather finally arriving, it is the perfect time to head up the Cave Hill and see what’s new at one of our most iconic local landmarks.
