Great news for fans of local television drama! Filming for the highly anticipated fourth season of the critically acclaimed series Blue Lights is officially underway, with production crews recently spotted working right here in North Belfast.
The Belfast-set police drama, which first aired in 2023, caused a stir when the team were seen setting up at 'Studio A', a popular local makeup studio. The studio shared a glimpse of the action on social media, confirming they had “Blue lights in filming in the studio today.”
While the video clip mostly showed the backs of crew members, a key line of dialogue could be overheard in a thick Northern Irish accent: “the risk concerns all of us.”
The show, which stars Sian Brooke as Grace Ellis, Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon, and Nathan Braniff as Tommy Foster, has had an incredible run since its debut. It kicked off 2025 by securing the Best Drama Series title at the Broadcast Awards and followed up with a massive win for Best Drama Series at the BAFTA TV Awards in May.
Confirmation for the fourth season came back in February 2024. Co-creators and writers Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson have expressed their excitement about continuing the project, stating that the commitment from the BBC allows them to deliver the “scale and ambition” they envisioned for the show’s storytelling. Fans won't have to wait too long to see the results, as the production company has confirmed that the next chapter of Blue Lights is set to hit screens in 2026.
