A North Belfast man from Broomhill Park was sentenced yesterday, June 2, 2026, following a dog attack last year that left a 5-year-old boy injured. The incident involved his Pointer dog escaping and attacking the child in the street.

Lucas Bjorkman-Loney of Broomhill Park, North Belfast, was sentenced at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday, Tuesday 2 June 2026, after being convicted of an offence involving a dog attacking a person.
The prosecution arose from reports that Mr Bjorkman-Loney's Pointer type dog had attacked and injured a 5-year-old boy, causing injuries to his leg. The incident occurred on 27 June 2025, when the dog escaped from premises at Broomhill Park and attacked the child in the street.
Following his conviction under Article 29(2) of The Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983, Mr Bjorkman-Loney received a fine of £750. He is also required to pay a compensation order totalling £500 to the victim, along with an additional £132 in legal and court costs.
