Local neighbourhood officers on patrol have issued a safety warning to residents after seizing an e-bike and an e-scooter in North Belfast. The vehicles were confiscated after youths were spotted riding them dangerously through local areas, including the New Lodge, Antrim Road, and the Waterworks park.
Members of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team observed the riders performing wheelies in the middle of a busy road, posing a serious risk to themselves and other road users. Both riders were stopped by police and are now facing the criminal justice system.
Police are reminding the community that while these vehicles might seem like fun, their illegal and reckless use on public roads and parks is highly dangerous. The PSNI emphasized that it is only a matter of time before a child, pedestrian, cyclist, or rider is seriously injured or killed, urging parents and young people to think twice about how and where these vehicles are used.
