Belfast is absolutely buzzing with excitement as Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the world's largest celebration of Irish music and culture, is just around the corner! Set to transform our city from Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 August, this promises to be one of the biggest events Belfast has ever hosted, and we're thrilled to welcome it.
With preparations in full swing, seven major businesses have stepped forward as official sponsors, playing a crucial role in bringing this incredible festival to life. Their support ensures that over 800,000 visitors, alongside North Belfast residents, can enjoy an unforgettable eight-day extravaganza filled with competitions, concerts, céilís, lively street sessions, cultural activities, and plenty of family-friendly fun right across the city.
We're delighted to see familiar names backing the Fleadh. Maxer is joining as the official digital partner, while the Donnelly Group will be the official vehicle partner. Other key sponsors include the Dalata Hotel Group (operating the Clayton Hotel Belfast and Maldron Hotel Belfast City), Clover Group, Jigsaw, the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, and Salty Buoy Beer Company. These partnerships are vital, not only for delivering a fantastic event but also for generating significant economic, cultural, and tourism benefits, showcasing Belfast – still Ireland's only UNESCO City of Music – on a global stage.
Councillor Ian McLaughlin, Chair of the council's Strategic Policy and Resources Committee, highlighted the strong community and business partnership. He emphasised that the support from these sponsors reflects a shared belief in the power of music and culture to unite people, boost our local economy, and present Belfast at its very best. The Fleadh will be a landmark occasion for our city, welcoming everyone to celebrate together.
Adding to the excitement, Tourism NI is providing £1 million in support, helping to maximise the economic benefits and enhance our region's reputation as a top destination. Plus, you won't miss a beat as TG4 and RTÉ return as official media partners, broadcasting live from Belfast throughout the festival with special programmes and streaming coverage.
Brendan McAleer from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann shared his gratitude, noting that the sponsors' commitment is an investment in our rich culture, our communities, and the thousands of musicians, performers, and visitors who make the Fleadh so special. Their contribution is invaluable in delivering a truly memorable Fleadh right here in Belfast.
Looking ahead, Belfast is proud to host the Fleadh again in 2027, with opportunities for future sponsorship expected to open in autumn 2026.
