Free Family Fun Day Coming to Drumglass Park for Sure Start!

Get ready for a fantastic day out, North Belfast families! Drumglass Park is set to host a free, fun-filled family day on Saturday 23 May, from 12pm to 4pm. This brilliant event aims to support South Belfast Sure Start, one of the Lord Mayor's chosen charities, and promises an afternoon of excitement for all ages.

Children and parents alike will find plenty to enjoy, with activities ranging from exciting sensory play and messy play sessions to a creative mud kitchen, fascinating sea creatures workshop, and engaging bubble workshops. Plus, no fun day would be complete without bouncy castles and face painting!

South Belfast Sure Start is one of nine vital Sure Start projects operating across our city. These incredible initiatives provide invaluable early intervention and advice services to young children and their families in disadvantaged areas, helping them with everything from healthy eating to securing good quality play opportunities. They are truly dedicated to giving our young people the best possible start in life.

Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Tracy Kelly, shared her enthusiasm for the event. "Sure Start provides invaluable help to children and families in our local communities, giving young people the best possible start in life," she said. "As someone who used Sure Start services myself when I became a mum for the first time, I’ve seen first-hand the positive impact their work has on parents and children, helping them to thrive. I’d encourage families to come along, get involved and show their support for this fantastic local charity."

Joy Poots, Project Co-ordinator for South Belfast Sure Start, added, "We have had an amazing year as one of the Lord Mayor’s charities, and the fun day will be the icing on the cake. While this event will be open to families and children of all ages, it is so lovely to see so many activities that can be enjoyed by Sure Start-aged children. It's a wonderful opportunity for people to come along and have fun together for the afternoon, especially during times of pressure on families."
