Girdwood Community Hub is set to burst with energy and excitement next month, hosting a fantastic weekend of free activities for all ages on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2026. Whether you're looking to try a new sport or enjoy a fun-filled family day out, there’s something for everyone to get involved in right here in North Belfast.
The fun kicks off on Saturday 28th March with a free multi-sport 'try-it' day from 10am to 1pm. This exciting initiative is part of Belfast’s European City of Sport 2026 programme, in partnership with Communities NI. No booking is required – just drop in and have a go at a range of sports including boxing, breakdancing, tai chi, hyrox, volleyball, and pickleball. All ages and abilities are warmly welcome to participate.
The celebrations continue on Sunday 29th March with the ever-popular 'Spring into Girdwood' community fun day, running from 12pm to 3pm. This jam-packed afternoon offers a huge variety of activities designed for families and local residents. Expect more sports action with BMX, skateboarding, and a climbing wall, alongside live music and drumming, bouncy inflatables, creative arts and crafts, a gaming bus, a sensory bus, face painting, and special character appearances! To ensure the event is accessible and enjoyable for everyone, a quiet space will also be available throughout the day.
Both days are completely free to attend, with no tickets needed. We encourage visitors to consider using public transport when making their way to Girdwood Community Hub. Come along, get involved, and enjoy a weekend celebrating sport, creativity, and vibrant community spirit right on your doorstep!
