A security alert is currently ongoing in the Havana Court area of North Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious object, believed to be under a car. Residents have been evacuated for safety and are being supported locally at Ardoyne Community Centre. Authorities are urging the public and road users to avoid the area while the situation is dealt with.

North Belfast woke up this morning, Monday 8th December, to a security alert unfolding in the Havana Court area. Police are currently at the scene after a suspicious object was discovered, understood to be a device found placed under a parked car.
As a necessary precaution, residents in Havana Court and the immediate surrounding areas have been evacuated to ensure their safety. We are pleased to report that the community has quickly mobilized to provide essential support. Ardoyne Community Centre has opened its doors, thanks to the swift action of Belfast City Council, and is currently supporting all those affected by the evacuation.
The PSNI confirmed the alert is ongoing. Army Technical Officers (ATOs) have been called in and are presently dealing with the suspicious device.
Road users and members of the public are strongly advised to avoid the Havana Court area until the alert is officially stood down. The PSNI has advised that an update will be provided in due course.
