Heartbreak as North Belfast teen sisters lose both beloved parents within two months A fundraiser has been launched to support Jayne Moyes, 19, and her younger sister Sophie, 14, following the passing of their beloved parents Dominic Hopkins and Noleen Moyes 20:01, 14 Jun 2026 Two teenage sisters from North Belfast are grieving the loss of their parents after both passed away suddenly within two months of each other. A fundraiser has been launched to support Jayne Moyes, 19, and her younger sister Sophie, 14, following the passing of their beloved parents Dominic Hopkins and Noleen Moyes. Their father passed away on April 19 following a suspected accident after a medical incident while their mother died in hospital on June 11 after suffering a brain aneurysm. Jayne told she is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of her parents and still expects her mum to shout down the stairs for her to run to the shop. She said: "My mum was the type of person who would talk to and be friends with anyone. She was always there for you and would go out of her way to help anyone who was in need. "I still can't believe that she is gone, it just doesn't feel real at all. "My dad was such a big personality who was full of emotions and really was one of a kind. "There is no way that anything would be able to replace not having them in our lives". A fundraiser has been launched in order to support the two sisters at this difficult time by their friend Daniel Nevin who hopes that it will help them in the coming weeks and months. He said: "I am absolutely heartbroken for Jayne and Sophie who have lost both of their parents in such a short space of time. "I have set up this fundraiser in order to help them cope over the next few weeks and months and I can't imagine what they are going through. "Jayne is a care worker who works very hard but it will be tough for her as she will likely become the legal guardian of her younger sister and have to make sure that she is taken care of. "I just hope that people can come together and give them both the support they need and ease the pressures they are facing."
