North Belfast-based tech company Hurree has launched a heartwarming new initiative for the festive season, empowering its team to support 12 local charities and causes across Northern Ireland. Titled '12 Days of Giving Back', the campaign aims to shine a light on smaller, grassroots organisations that often miss out on significant fundraising attention during the busy Christmas period.
Breaking away from traditional corporate appeals, Hurree placed the decision-making directly into the hands of its staff. Each team member was invited to nominate a charity or cause that held personal significance for them. This resulted in a diverse and impactful list, including vital animal rescue groups, women’s services, local food banks, community support networks, and various volunteer-led initiatives right across our region.
Aaron Gibson, CEO of Hurree, has pledged donations to all 12 chosen charities. He expressed his hope that by sharing this list, other businesses in Northern Ireland will be inspired to undertake similar community-focused efforts this December. "Some of the most important organisations in our communities are also the smallest," Aaron explained. "They’re run by volunteers, or by families who have lived through something difficult and decided to make things better for others. We wanted to shine a light on those groups, the ones that don’t always get big attention but make a big difference. If sharing our list encourages even one more business to do something similar, then that’s a win for everyone."
The beauty of Hurree’s initiative lies in its simplicity: staff members identify causes close to their hearts, and the company provides the backing. Gibson believes this straightforward approach can be easily adopted by any organisation looking to make a meaningful local impact. He added, "You don’t need a huge CSR programme to help your community. Ask your team what matters to them. Choose a few local groups. Then do something meaningful and useful. Every business can do that."
Hurree, an AI and data platform based in Belfast, is known for its strong emphasis on company culture, employee wellbeing, and actively contributing to the local community. This '12 Days of Giving Back' campaign is a testament to their commitment to making a positive difference right here on our doorstep.
