Foyle Port, officially known as Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners (LPHC), has proudly announced the appointment of Ian Luney as its new Chief Executive. Mr. Luney will step into his new role on March 1, 2026, following a comprehensive selection process as part of the Board’s planned succession.
Currently serving as the Chief Development Officer at Foyle Port, Ian brings extensive senior leadership experience from the utility and energy sectors. In his current position, he spearheaded the growth of the Port's utility platform, advancing its diversification into renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and other commercial ventures, all aimed at fostering long-term regional development. It plays a vital role in supporting a wide array of sectors and sustaining thousands of jobs across the region. The Port continuously enhances its capabilities in marine services, renewables, cruise operations, land development, and emerging digital and energy infrastructure, all contributing to Northern Ireland's overall economic health.
The Board expressed full confidence in Ian’s leadership, stating: “Our priority is disciplined execution of our strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Port and the regional economy it supports. Ian understands the significance of this asset and the duties inherent in leading it.”
Ian Luney shared his enthusiasm for the role, commenting: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to lead Foyle Port. Foyle Port is a strong and resilient organisation with significant potential.” He added, “Having worked closely with the Executive team and stakeholders in recent years, I am focused on continuing the delivery of our strategy and building on the progress already made to strengthen the Port’s role in supporting regional economic development.”
