Interactive map shows number of road traffic collisions in your area Almost 8,000 people were injured in collisions across NI in 2025 13:59, 13 May 2026 Newly released data from Stormont's Research and Information Service (RaiSe) shows that 7,879 people were injured in 5,015 road traffic collisions across Northern Ireland in 2025. 56 people lost their lives on our roads in 2025, and the new dataset shows that 1,066 people were seriously injured and an additional 6,757 people were slightly injured in collisions. Almost one-fifth (18.75%) of those were aged between 17 and 24, including 10 fatalities, 197 serious injuries and 1,270 were slightly injured. The data also shows that the highest number of collisions in 2025 (85) happened on a Wednesday afternoon between 4pm and 5pm. While the highest number of collisions occurred in North Belfast (640), Mid Ulster had the highest number of fatalities (8). This comes as earlier this week, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins committed £220k in funding to reinforce critical road safety messages, given the recent spike in road deaths, focusing on general driver behaviour and motorcyclist safety. Minister Kimmins said: “Road safety continues to be a key priority for me, and I remain firmly committed to ensuring that all road users can travel safely and with confidence. “Every road death is a tragedy and more than a statistic, it shatters families and causes devastating grief. Therefore, given the recent spikes in road deaths, I have committed funding in 2026-27 to re-launch three campaigns this month. Beginning May 7th, Priorities, Bike Speed and Bike Aware address general driver behaviour and motorcyclist safety as an initial priority. “Last year I reinstated the road safety advertising budget, approving an allocation of almost £2 million to Road Safety Promotion for the 2025-26 financial year. “In addition, the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership (NIRSP) has allocated £500,000 in sponsorship, bringing the total budget to almost £2.5 million. “This budget funded the development of a suite of campaigns to address the main causations of road traffic collisions, including, hard hitting ads addressing speeding, driver behaviour, drug driving and safety around school buses.” Article continues below For all the latest news, visit the homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here.
