A serious incident on Kinnaird Avenue on Monday evening, June 8th, has left the North Belfast community shocked and concerned. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 10:30 PM following reports of a stabbing. One man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, while another man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.
During the distressing event, local witnesses reported that three quick-thinking bystanders intervened to protect the victim, with one using a hurl to help disarm the attacker. A significant police presence and cordons remained in place on Tuesday as officers carried out their enquiries.
Local DUP Councillor Jordan Doran expressed his deep concern regarding the incident and the videos of the event circulating online. Emphasizing that violence of this nature has absolutely no place in North Belfast, Cllr Doran reassured residents that he is actively engaging with the PSNI and other relevant agencies to address community safety concerns.
The PSNI at Tennent Street are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has CCTV or dash-cam footage from Kinnaird Avenue around the time of the occurrence, to contact them. Anyone with information can call the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1654 of 08/06/26, to help with the ongoing investigation.
