A serious knife attack on Kinnaird Avenue, just off the busy Antrim Road, has left the North Belfast community in deep shock. The incident, which occurred on Monday night, resulted in a man in his 40s sustaining significant injuries to his face, neck, and back. Our thoughts are with the victim as he recovers from this deeply distressing ordeal.
In response to the attack, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has declared a "critical incident" and launched an intensive investigation. A man in his 30s, from Sudan, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
Following the incident, graphic video footage began circulating online showing the violent altercation. The footage captures the incredible bravery of local bystanders who quickly intervened to stop the attacker and protect the victim as he lay on the ground.
