Neighbour who smashed plates off woman's car during North Belfast street dispute sentenced The court heard that the accused had Diazepam tablets hidden inside his sock when he was detained and that he spat on his hand and rubbed saliva into the headrest of PSNI car 16:42, 20 Feb 2026 Updated 17:49, 20 Feb 2026 A man has been sentenced for smashing ceramic plates off a woman’s car as part of a neighbourhood dispute in North Belfast . Brandon Wallace, 27, hurled the crockery from a window after the victim parked outside apartments at Antrim Close . Sentencing him to six months in prison, a judge branded the attack carried out in broad daylight “outrageous”. Wallace, with an address at Hillhead Gardens in Banbridge, admitted charges of criminal damage and possession of Class C drugs. Belfast Magistrates’ Court heard he began shouting at the woman after she arrived at the block of flats in her Volkswagen Tiguan on November 28 last year. Wallace then threw a number of ceramic plates out of one of the windows, with at least one striking and damaging the bonnet of the car. Neighbours said more items were hurled once she had entered her own home, Wallace left the area following the incident and was later circulated as wanted for arrest. Police subsequently detained him at the same apartments on January 15 this year. Searches uncovered nine Diazepam tablets hidden inside his sock, the court was told. While being taken into custody Wallace spat on his hand and rubbed the saliva into one of the headrests in the PSNI car. Defence counsel Michael Boyd said he had reacted badly to alleged comments about his children. “There was a neighbourhood dispute going on, not that it excuses what happened,”the barrister acknowledged. “It was not appropriate and would have been distressing and embarrassing for the injured party in the street.” Wallace also claimed he only sneezed inside the police vehicle. Citing his previous record of 131 convictions, District Judge Conor Heaney decided to impose an immediate custodial sentence. Wallace was also ordered to pay £180 compensation to cover the cost of repairs to the Volkswagen, and £50 for cleaning the police car. Want to see more from ?
