Belfast's landscape is set for some exciting changes following a series of significant planning approvals from the city's Planning Committee. These decisions pave the way for major city-wide developments and welcome enhancements right here in our North Belfast community.
Among the key approvals is an exciting amendment for a new multi-purpose berthing facility for cruise ships, located on Airport Road West in the vibrant Harbour Estate. This 'green light' for Belfast Harbour Commissioners means we'll see not only the relocation and extension of the main cruise terminal building but also an additional baggage facility and essential site works, including improved lighting, landscaping, and infrastructure. This development promises to boost tourism and the local economy, welcoming more visitors to our wonderful city.
Another significant approval sees a renewal of plans by Andras House for a striking 13-storey aparthotel. This project involves the refurbishment of a four-storey terrace at 29-33 Bedford Street, alongside a rear extension and the construction of the brand new aparthotel, adding modern accommodation options to the city centre.
Crucially for residents in North Belfast, there's fantastic news for local sports enthusiasts! Planning permission has also been granted for substantial upgrades at the Hammer Playing Pitch. This will include resurfacing work and a minor extension to the existing 3G pitch, providing an even better playing surface. Additionally, the plans feature replacement floodlighting, a new 50-seater covered mini-stand, enhanced fencing, and upgraded dugouts, ensuring top-notch facilities for our community's teams and athletes.
These approved projects reflect a commitment to developing Belfast's infrastructure, supporting tourism, and enhancing vital community sports facilities, promising a brighter future for all residents.
