Pupils from Our Lady and St Patrick's College, Knock, were recently welcomed to City Hall by Lord Mayor Councillor Tracy Kelly to celebrate their historic All-Ireland Senior Post-Primary Schools title. The female team made history in March, scoring four goals in just 20 minutes to claim their first-ever All-Ireland championship. Local MMA champion Leah McCourt also inspired the young athletes with her own experiences.

Belfast City Hall recently buzzed with excitement as Lord Mayor Councillor Tracy Kelly hosted a special reception to honour the phenomenal achievement of the female pupils from Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Knock. The talented team celebrated their historic victory in the All-Ireland Senior Post-Primary Schools competition.
In a truly remarkable performance back in March, these incredible young athletes clinched the prestigious title for the very first time. Their triumph was cemented by an astonishing four goals scored in just 20 minutes, showcasing their skill, determination, and teamwork to become All-Ireland champions. This fantastic win is a brilliant highlight for Belfast’s sporting scene.
The special reception, held on April 20th, 2026, was not only a chance to commend the team but also featured an inspiring address from local MMA champion Leah McCourt. Leah shared invaluable insights from her own journey as a female sportswoman, offering encouragement and wisdom to the budding stars.
This uplifting event was proudly organised as part of Belfast’s European City of Sport 2026 programme, celebrating the power of sport and inspiring future generations of athletes across our city. Congratulations once again to Our Lady and St Patrick's College on their magnificent achievement!
