An incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 14th, involving a car and a pedestrian near the junction of the New Lodge Road and Antrim Road. A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening head and facial injuries. Police have arrested the driver and are appealing to the North Belfast community for witnesses or dash-cam footage.

Residents in the New Lodge and Antrim Road areas of North Belfast were alerted to a serious road traffic collision in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The PSNI confirmed that they received a report at approximately 1am concerning a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of the Antrim Road. Officers attended the scene immediately, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, was treated for head and facial injuries before being transported to hospital. Thankfully, police have confirmed that the injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening at this time.
Following the incident, the 22-year-old driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily injury by careless driving. He remains in custody while police enquiries continue into the circumstances of the collision. Police confirmed that the New Lodge Road has since fully reopened to traffic.
