Police are appealing for information following a frightening arson attack on a home in North Belfast on Sunday evening, 18 October.
Emergency crews, including the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and police officers, were called to the property on the Shore Road, close to the Skegoneill area, at around 8.30pm. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze, which had been started deliberately after an accelerant was poured onto the front door. A window was also smashed, and the exterior of the house sustained smoke damage.
A man and a woman were inside the house when the attack took place. While they thankfully escaped without physical injuries, both have been left deeply shaken by the incident.
Detective Sergeant Sarah Cunningham confirmed that the fire is being treated as arson and urged local residents to come forward with any details that could help identify those responsible: "We are treating this matter as arson, and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anyone suspicious in the area, or who may have relevant CCTV or other footage that could assist with enquiries, to contact us on 101 quoting reference 1536 18/10/26."
