Police have launched an appeal for information following a linked burglary and vehicle theft in our local area during the early hours of Saturday, 22nd August.
Officers received a report around 4am that an individual had smashed a window to gain entry to commercial premises on the Antrim Road in Newtownabbey, stealing a number of items before fleeing the scene.
Initial enquiries quickly identified a suspect vehicle connected to the break-in. It was later confirmed that this car had been stolen from outside a home on Somerton Road in North Belfast after entry was gained to the house and the vehicle keys were taken.
Officers later discovered the stolen vehicle abandoned on Salisbury Gardens, with nobody present.
Police are urging anyone who was in the Antrim Road, Somerton Road, or Salisbury Gardens areas around 4am and noticed anything out of the ordinary to get in touch. Local residents and drivers with dash-cam, doorbell, or CCTV footage are also asked to review their recordings.
Anyone with information can contact police on 101, submit details online quoting reference number 201 of 22/08/26, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
