Local police are appealing for witnesses after a female jogger was targeted in a racially motivated hate crime at the Waterworks. The incident involved a group of youths throwing items at the runner on Monday evening.

Police are investigating a distressing incident at the Waterworks in North Belfast that occurred on the evening of Monday, May 11. Around 8pm, a female jogger was targeted by a group of youths who threw bottles and eggs at her as she ran through the park. During the incident, the woman was struck on the leg by an egg.
The PSNI has confirmed that the matter is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime. Our community spaces should be safe and welcoming for everyone, and local officers are now working to identify those responsible for this unacceptable behavior.
Police at Tennent Street have issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who was in the Waterworks area at the time. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have recorded footage from the area that could assist with the ongoing investigation.
