A man in his 30s is in custody after reports of an individual with a knife in the Greencastle Close area on Wednesday. Police have confirmed that the incident did not involve local school grounds despite social media speculation.

Police were called to the Greencastle Close area of North Belfast on Wednesday afternoon, March 25, following reports of a man armed with a knife. The incident, which began shortly after 3:30 pm, led to a swift police response and the suspect was apprehended a short time later on the Shore Road.
The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and threatening or abusive behaviour. He currently remains in police custody.
Following the arrest, there was significant speculation on social media regarding where the incident took place. Authorities have clarified that, contrary to some reports, the man did not enter the grounds of any local school. Community members are encouraged to rely on official information and to avoid sharing misinformation that may cause undue alarm in the neighborhood.
