A 51-year-old man has been taken into custody following a police operation in the Highvale Gardens area on Wednesday evening. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident, which involved the Armed Response Unit.

Residents in the Highvale Gardens area of North Belfast witnessed a significant police presence on Wednesday evening, April 8, as officers responded to reports of a man in possession of a firearm. The incident began around 6:20 PM, leading to a swift response from local officers and the Armed Response Unit.
During the operation, a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, as well as on suspicion of theft. He currently remains in police custody as investigations continue.
While three people were inside the property at the time of the police intervention, the community will be relieved to hear that no injuries were reported. The situation was handled safely by emergency services within the residential neighborhood, ensuring no harm came to those involved.
