A fantastic four-figure donation from Power NI has brought an extra sprinkle of festive magic to children across Belfast this Christmas! Northern Ireland's leading energy provider generously gifted £1,200 to Angel Eyes Northern Ireland, a wonderful local charity dedicated to empowering children with vision impairment.
Based right here in the city's Innovation Factory, Angel Eyes NI works tirelessly to provide vital education, support, and inclusive opportunities for local children. Founded by parents of children with vision impairment, their primary goal is to help primary and secondary school children maximise their full potential. In addition to direct support, Angel Eyes NI also offers professional training, equipping teachers and other professionals with resources to better understand and assist kids with impaired vision.
The generous Power NI donation, awarded through their ‘Helping Hands’ initiative, was specifically used to support Angel Eyes NI's annual accessible Christmas pantomime. This year, families enjoyed a magical production of 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears'. The event was designed to be fully accessible, allowing children to experience a truly meaningful festive celebration. To ensure this, the pantomime cast even received special Virtual Reality (VR) and touch tour training from an eye clinician, enhancing the experience for every child.
Kerrie Cartmill from Angel Eyes NI shared her gratitude, saying, "Thanks to this generous funding from Power NI, we were able to host a fully accessible pantomime experience for one hundred and forty people, including children and young people with vision impairment, their siblings, and parents/carers. For many of our families, activities like this are often out of reach due to accessibility challenges, financial pressures, or the need for specialist support. This donation has truly removed those barriers, making a real difference this Christmas."
This thoughtful contribution highlights Power NI’s ongoing commitment to giving back to communities across Northern Ireland. Their 'Helping Hands' scheme provides essential financial aid to local projects that promote wellbeing, sustainability, and social inclusion, helping charities like Angel Eyes NI continue their invaluable work in our community.
