Great news for aspiring electricians in our community! Northern Regional College (NRC) has received a substantial boost to its training programmes thanks to a generous donation from industry leader Core Electrical Group. This partnership is set to empower the next generation of skilled tradespeople, ensuring they have the best possible start to their careers.
Core Electrical Group, a market leader in supplying cable management systems and electrical products across Ireland, has donated over £5,000 worth of electrical installation materials. These valuable resources, including Marshall Tufflex PVC conduit, trunking, Odyssey data trunking, Lewden consumer units, RCBOs, and ATEX products, will be put to excellent use at NRC’s Newtownabbey and Ballymena campuses. Some of these materials are already being integrated into teaching at the new Ballymena campus, which opened in October 2025.
This significant contribution means students enrolled in electrical installation programmes will gain invaluable hands-on experience with industry-standard products and systems from day one. It highlights the crucial role strong industry partnerships play in enriching student learning and demonstrates a shared commitment to developing a highly skilled and future-ready workforce right here in our region.
Iain McCart, a Lecturer in Electrical Installation at Northern Regional College, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are extremely thankful to Core Electrical for their ongoing support. Access to high-quality, industry-standard materials is absolutely vital in preparing our students for the real-world demands of the electrical sector. Partnerships like this ensure we can deliver exceptional, practical learning experiences that benefit both our students and the wider industry.”
Gareth Bradford, Core Belfast Hub Manager at Core Electrical Group, reinforced this sentiment: “Core Electrical is dedicated to supporting the future workforce of our industry. By donating sustainable, industry-approved materials to Northern Regional College, we are helping students gain practical experience with the very products and systems they will utilise throughout their professional lives. We are proud to contribute to the development of Northern Ireland’s next cohort of highly skilled electricians.”
Northern Regional College continues its vital work with employers and industry partners, ensuring its training programmes consistently meet modern workplace standards and contribute significantly to building a skilled and thriving workforce for our community’s future.
