A 36-year-old man has been charged following an incident in the Spamount Street area of North Belfast on Saturday night. During the arrest, a police officer sustained minor injuries after responding to reports of criminal damage involving a knife.

Local residents in the Spamount Street area of North Belfast experienced a concerning incident over the weekend, resulting in a man being charged and a police officer sustaining minor injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 10:50 PM on Saturday, June 6, when police responded to reports of criminal damage.
During the subsequent arrest, an officer suffered minor injuries.
A 36-year-old man has since been charged with multiple offences. These charges include criminal damage, threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place, and assault on police.
The individual is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 8. As is standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS). We wish the injured officer a speedy recovery and thank our local emergency services for their ongoing work to keep the North Belfast community safe.
