Two men released unconditionally as Belfast murder investigation continues One man remains in custody 16:51, 23 Jul 2026 A 40-year-old man and a 32-year-old man who were arrested as part of an investigation into a serious assault in North Belfast , which resulted in the death of Paul Mackin Jr, have been released unconditionally. Three men, aged 32, 40 and 41, were arrested following the report of an assault at a property in Duncairn Parade on Monday, 20th July. In a subsequent update, detectives advised that the victim had passed away in hospital. Detective Chief Inspector Jennifer Rea added: "Two of the three men arrested – aged 32 and 40 – have now both been released unconditionally. "The 41-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody at this time. Our investigation is ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1454 of 20/07/26.
