Ulster Bands Showcase Dazzles at Titanic Slipways for Fleadh Cheoil

North Belfast residents and visitors alike were treated to a magnificent display of cultural heritage on the evening of August 6, 2026, as the Ulster Bands Showcase took centre stage at the iconic Titanic Slipways. This vibrant event formed an integral part of Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026, bringing together communities for a celebration of rich traditions.

Presented by the Belfast Bands Forum, the showcase was a testament to the distinct Unionist and Ulster-Scots culture, expressed through its dynamic musical heritage. Audiences had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the sounds, traditions, and intricate craftsmanship of various performances, including the stirring melodies of flute bands, the powerful rhythm of Lambeg drumming, the stately presence of pipe bands, and the graceful movements of Scottish country dancing. It truly offered a glimpse into a vital and celebrated part of our region's cultural fabric.

A host of talented groups graced the stage, delighting the crowds with their skill and passion. Among the fantastic bands performing were the Imperial Guards Belfast, Sir Henry Inglesby Fife and Drum, County Armagh Drum Majors, Church Flute Band, The Loyal, Bailles Mills Accordion Band, and County Ballylone Concert Flute Band. Adding to the spectacle, the Molly Smith School of Highland Dance and Sollus Highland Dancers showcased their impressive routines, captivating everyone in attendance.

The importance of the event was underscored by the presence of several distinguished guests. In attendance were Belfast’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Róis-Máire Donnelly, Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Communities Minister Gordon Lyons, Lord Lieutenant Dame Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle, and Dr Labhrás Ó Murchú and Attracta Ní Bhrádaigh from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, highlighting the broad support for cultural showcases like this.
