A serious road traffic collision in the York Street area has left the North Belfast community in shock. Local road closures remain in place as police carry out their investigation, with residents advised to seek alternative routes.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected this morning following a very serious road traffic collision in the York Street area of North Belfast. The incident, which occurred on Thursday morning, 16th July, has left our local community in deep shock as emergency services continue their work at the scene.
Due to the severity of the crash, a number of key roads have been closed to traffic. The closures are currently in place between Limestone Road and North Queen Street, as well as Mountcollyer Avenue and York Street on either side of these junctions. Local drivers and commuters are strongly advised to seek alternative routes and avoid the area for the time being.
Expressing the feelings of many in the neighborhood, North Belfast MLA Philip Brett shared his deep sadness over the incident. He noted that the local community is in shock at the seriousness of what has occurred, extending his thoughts to everyone affected and their families during this incredibly difficult time. He also paid tribute to the emergency services who responded so quickly and professionally to the scene.
A PSNI investigation is now under way to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. It is essential that officers are given the time and space to carry out a full and thorough investigation.
